| | Seaside Banana Garden | | 6823 Santa Barbara Av | | Ventura,
CA | | Country: | United States | | Country Region: | West Coast | | County: | Ventura | | Location: | La Conchita - Conchita exit, off US 101 | | Description: | This plantation of banana trees is situated on a narrow shelf of land between the ocean and 300-foot-high bluffs; the resultant blanket of relatively warm air that covers the trees comes close to approximating tropical temperatures. More than 50 varieties of bananas are grown here, and visitors are welcome to walk through the groves of trees.
Much of the unusal and tasy fruit is for sale on the premises. Among the exotic bananas are the ice cream banana, lady finger, Hawaiian apple (Brazilian) and the Polynesian Haa-Haa. The fruit ripens at various times throughout the year, but the pickings are somewhat sparse in January and February. Also for sale are other types of fruit, as well as honey, dates and tropical plants. | | Hours: | | Open | Daily
